In China, the biggest issue in the original family is that the parents have a strong tendency to over control their children and sometimes the parents express their love in the wrong way. Also a large part of Chinese children have experienced or are experiencing various negative influences from their family-of-origin. I have also experienced verbal violence in my family-of-origin. How we get along with our parents became a behavior pattern and this behavior pattern is a reflection of our way of getting along with society. According to the concept of toxic parents in psychology books, growing up in an unhealthy family environment can easily lead to psychological disorders for children.

Family trauma may be hard to notice at once, but it will have long-term irreversible effects on one'spsychology. Therefore, I chose to make house-shaped candles,and placed a house-shaped paperl ampshade. The fire from the candles willeventually flame up the entire paper house. As time goes by, everything will burn away and only the human sculptures embedded in the candles will left, representing the children who are still deeply influenced by the family-of-origin even after they have long gone from the house.
