Apetite of Time
A farmers’ market or a city will continue to change under the influence of many aspects. These factors include the needs of the market, changes in policies, and even some uncontrollable factors. But I think that no matter what stage of urban development we are in, no matter what changes our favorite and familiar cities have undergone, the precious memories it brings to people will never change.
In the past two years, because of the ongoing epidemic, I have intermittently heard stories from my parents about the constant changes in the farmers’ market I used to go to when I was a child. So I took this as my inspiration, and told the story of a farmers’ market from its establishment, development, closure, and reappearance in this illustration book.
Using tracing paper as the printing material to carry my images of the picture book. Through the overlay of translucent pages, it shows the story of the market changing in time and space in my memory.
